The Star of David symbolizes the dictum of Hermes Trismegistus: as above, so below.
The upper interpenetrating the lower, and vice versa. But the lower symbolizes the higher but never the opposite.
The Grail was fashioned by angels from an emerald that fell from Lucifer’s brow at the fall: Urna, the frontal pearl which takes the place of Shiva’s third eye, representing the sense of eternity.
The Grail was entrusted to Adam in Eden. Seth, the early redeemer, took the Grail and established a reflection of Eden—a spiritual center, on earth.
The Grail is the heart of the world.
The Druids preserved it until Jesus. After the Passion and resurrection, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus took it to Britain. Joseph supposedly settled in Glastonbury.
The entire area around Glastonbury in Somerset contains a zodiac of ground tracings. This is the “roundtable of Arthur.” Libra however is missing; originally it was not the scales of Justice but a bipolar symbol related to the Big/Little dipper.
In some traditions, the Grail could be an inscription by Christ on the cup, or even a book (Hermes’s Emerald Tablet?) In any case, it is the vessel from which to drink soma, haoma, amrita, ambrosia, all considered the elixir of immortality. Its shape is that of a slim bowl, the lunar Crescent.
The language of the birds
…is the language of the soul. Birds are forms of communication in the higher or angelic states. Roosting upon trees, which are symbols of the world axis.
Ibis. Heron. Stork—all destroyers of the reptiles (snake) at the tree’s base.
Language itself is seen not merely as a mirror, but a full world unto itself whose relation between material elements can produce a sympathetic effect or resonance with the macroscopic world of objects and processes. The problem for us is that ancient and primordial association-chains have been broken between logo-essence and the world (this could just be inevitable functions of time). But a story of this very process of entropy can be fashioned around this dissolution itself and symbols.
The Dot, Circle, Lines
They represent ages, or simply their manifestation. Division and unity in division.
Dot: center.
Circle: Centrifugal/centripetal movement. The ascendant must fall.
Calyx—the flower, the cup of manifestation. Another axial symbol.
Constantine’s reversed P was looked upon as symbol of Antichrist per principle of reversal, inversion.
ROS (dew) Rosa (Rose)
Five roses on cross mirror the five wounds of Christ.
The lily has six petals, the lotus has eight.
At the end of a cycle of time, the circle is manifested as if in punctuation by a square—“squaring the circle.”
Shekinah—the divine feminine presence—did not have an abode until the building of the temple of Solomon.
Symbolism of the Doors
Priesthood: polar.
Royalty: solar.
How are these two fixed association symbolized? As two sides of the same coin? Janus faces? As a sword (two-edged)?
A Roman city was divided into quadrants. The city gates. Three tribes per quadrant.
The qutb—the pole, with 2 imams on either side.
Janus symbols contains both scepter and key. These symbolize the equinoctial points, future and past. The third and center face—the present—is equivalent to Shiva’s third eye.
Janus carries two keys: Janua Coeli and Janua Inferni, the winter and summer solstices. As Janitor, master of the times, he opens and closes these doors to immortality for the gods.
Janua Coeli-door of heaven eye of the world the opening at the top of the head –SUSHUMNA.
Capricorn – the door of the gods.
Cancer – the door of men. The sun is symbolic manifestation of the spiritual sun.
Silver key: terrestrial paradise. Temporal power, also substituted by the scepter.
Sign of Cancer, the double seed, ascending/descending. Sign represents the depths of the waters, associated with the moon. Also a conch shell that holds the primordial AUM. The rainbow and the shape of the ark (or the moon) form a circle. The 69 symbol of Pisces.
Gold key: Celestial paradise.
Seth/Set
Sons of Seth. Symbols: tiger/snake, all destroyers. Beni-Seth.
666 is a solar number, the number of Hakathriel, angel of the crown.
Kabbalah: the number of Sorath the solar demon (Guenon: his name is the Name of the Mystery spoken in John’s Revelation?)
A Red Ass is symbol of the Behemoth in the book of Job, and could be the Scarlet Beast of Revelation
Carnivals
In traditional iconology, the ass and ox are in opposition around Christ’s manger, symbolizing respectively malefic and benefic forces. They are mirrored at the end of Christ’s life by the good thief/bad thief who flank him on the cross. Mounting the ass and going to Jerusalem symbolizes attainment over evil forces.
During the Middle Ages an ass was let into the church during carnival as a hierarchical overturning of the social order.
The carnival days are no longer celebrated, because in the Kali Yuga they have become the world itself.
Fish
Vishnu—the Savior in one aspect. The Kalki Avatara will close out the Manvantara cycle on a white horse.
Manvantara, our present doubly-seven age. During the age previous to ours, Vishnu appeared to Satyavrata (pledged to truth) as a fish, who was to become Manu or legislator of the coming cycle.
During the cataclysm separating Manvantaras, the Veda was shut up in a state of envelopment in the conch shell (which is one of the chief attributes of Vishnu). The conch holds the imperishable sound Om.
The Arabic letter nun-14th, halving the letters of the Arabic alphabet. It symbolizes fish, dolphin, the lower half of the ark. The dot in center = seed of immortality within the matrix of the manifested world.
Druids
Wild boar – spiritual – Druids– Kshatriyas, the warrior class.
Bear – Temporal power – knights – Brahmins. This is part of the Hyperborean tradition. Primordial spiritual center of this Manvantara is Varahi–the land of the wild boar.
The Druids designated themselves as wild boars.
The Celts symbolized temporal vs. spiritual authorities as bears vs. boars.
Septa-riksha: Bear/star/light. Also the symbolic realm of the seven Rishis. (Which was transferred to the Pleiades in another age.) The change from the Great Bear to Pleiades signifies a change from a polar constellation to a zodiacal one and thus passage from solstitial to equinoctial symbolism—a change in the starting point of the annual cycle.
From the northern pole star to the west, which indicates the Atlantean influence.
Druid strength: wisdom, the oak. Mistletoe.
Among the Greeks, the revolt of the Kshatriyas against the Brahmins is what is symbolized by the hunt for the wild boar of Calydon—the white boar (Druid cloaks). The first blow was struck by Atalanta, who was suckled by a bear. This could indicate the revolt was begun in Atlantis or the heirs of the traditions. Caledonia was the ancient name for Scotland.
The azde was a meteoric iron device used to open the mouth of both talismanic statues and the Pharaoh’s corpse in preparation of his journey to the stars. It is shaped like the Big Dipper—or rather, the Great Bear, Mesekhtiu. It is known as the Thigh of Set, in which the thigh stood in for the phallus. The divine ka descended into Pharaoh at the coronation. The ka returns to the celestial regions at death. It is always depicted as a bird with a human face.
The magnetized azde would have magically pointed north, to the pole star, the ultimate destination of the Pharaoh’s ka. Iron is identified with Set—Hellenized, the azde would be called the “bone of Typhon.”
The bowl of heaven. The Pharaoh had to be prepared to enter the seven arit—the mansions of Osiris, the god of death. Pharaoh needed the correct amulets and passwords to go through: the names of the door keepers, the heralds, and the watchers.
The highest Jewish heaven is called aravot.
Sumer
The ziggurat is where the God lives in the sacred marriage, the hieros gamos, would take place. Babylon means “gate of the gods.” Sumer used base 60 (360° 6×6). But their ascent/decent technology uses the number seven—thus it stands outside the system, indivisible. This is why it’s important.
Thunderbolt and Black Stone
Symbolic role of the meteorites: the black stone of Cybele, the great goddess.
The King of the World (Agarttha) sent a black stone to the Dalai Lama, then taken to Ourga in Mongolia where it disappeared in 1820. A slate of some kind?
Black stones—baetyls—Beth-el: dwelling place of the divine. Represents the omphalos, the world navel. Could take the form of a pillar. “A prophetic stone that speaks.”
Jacob’s divine dwelling in Genesis was Luz.
Axe/hammer of Thor and Parashu-Rama.
Hyperborean – north.
Atlantis – West.
Vajra thunderbolt: sword world axis also symbolized by the trident—the three aspects of time. In the Republic, Plato described the world axis as a diamond sheathed in concentric dimensions around it. The sheaths produce the “spindle of necessity.” The Fate Clotho turns it with her right hand from right to left—a double spiral?
Thunderbolt
Condensations and dissipations, Yin and Yang, exhalation and inhalation, in hermeticism the coagulation and solution.
Coagulation=magic knot.
A sword: to bring justice, peace out of war, two-sided, like the word, a lightning bolt, the full power of the word.
Kronos-from the root KRN, meaning power and elevation. Highest of the heavenly spheres, seventh heaven.
Saturn is the regent of the golden age, the Satya-yuga, first period of Manvantara.
Horn = Kronos = KRN = crown. Summit of head – the Celts tumulus, Cairn.
The labyrinth/cave
Implies a place of initiation, where only select people can go. It is considered a substitute for pilgrimage to the holy land.
Great principle, absolute reality small, and appearances are relative to appearances.
Omphalos-Baetyls, symbols of the center – ovoid.
The cave is the place of the second birth (the Lesser Mysteries) to the third (Greater).
Second: Death to profane world.
Third: Death to the cosmos.
Stone taken away from Cave: resurrection.
Exit from cave normally from roof – symbol of the Solar Hub. Cosmic eye—plumb line of the great architect – the world axis – the polestar. Solstices = poles of the year.
The cosmic cave has two zodiacal doors – summer and winter solstices: Cancer and Capricorn.
Winter solstice = north pole of the year. Summer = south pole. Midnight on winter solstice: door of the gods. Day recapitulates year, the absolute bottom of the cycle.
Circumambulations with objects on ones right.
Time is occult, venerated entity or rather, clock as occult.
North: beneficial point towards which the sun climbs, south. Malefic. Solar
Heart/world egg
The spiritual seed of how the world will proceed, not a symbol of the totality.
Hindu: Golden Embryo. Serpent coiled about the egg: Kundalini entwined around the kernel of immortality. The black stone (upon which Jacob laid his head?), the Luz.
Solar orders/Celestial order vs. terrestrial seasons.
Janus: the master along with Shiva of “triple time.” Master of the two ways: the Pythagorean Y.
John the Baptist: birth at summer Solstice: he must therefore increase (Christ was born at the winter solstice).
Cancer is the “door of men.”
Dome: tortoise: the lower shell is terrestrial.
Upper shell: heaven, the animal itself between corresponds to man (Taoist interpretation).
The capstone: the principial point of unity.
“Arrayed manifestation” quaternary, four elements.
Three artists: surveyor, Mason, carpenter. The murderers of Hiram Abiff, Solomon’s architect of the Temple.
Parasol: the insignia of royalty.
The Seventh Ray: the world axis—is/as oneself.
Square cubic forms referred to the earth, and the circular, spherical to the heavens.
They too need a mediating structure = the octagon.
Four intermediary points added to the four cardinal points equal to eight directions: the eight winds.
Squaring the circle: from heavens to earth – Necessary to pass through octagonal walls. The octagonal basin in baptismal fonts of the Renaissance.
Saint Peter – the substitute for Christ. The cornerstone. The keystone of the arch. Crowning – the principal containing the whole thing.
Diamond: axial meaning. Lapsit exillis.
Lapis lapsus Ex coelis: the stone fallen from heaven in exile, and must reascend. The Grail is a vase, but also a stone in some traditions.
Alchemist’s Philosophers Stone which fell from Lucifer's brow at the time of his fall. Gammadia.
Tri-squares, from the letter gamma in Greek. The cross of the word: The four cardinal points.
Chrismon
I and X Greek initials of two words Jesus Christos.
Eagle = fleur-de-lis = points of six radii. Join the extremities of the six radii and you get the seal of Solomon: a representation of analogy and the six days of creation. Union of divine/human nature in Christ.
World Tree
2 opposite directions: heavens and earth. The Sephirotic tree.
In Avestan tradition: the two Haoma trees, white and yellow. The Paradisal one, white, which grows on the summit of Mount Alborj. The second is a substitute for the first. The inverted tree is the macrocosmic symbol (from the vantage point of heaven), but can also be the microcosmic symbol for man.
Tree: nervous system, the spine.
Agni: the world tree which burning but becomes the burning bush.
The column of fire or smoke guided the Hebrews, symbolic of the divine presence, the Shekinah.
Vajra, double-headed thunderbolt.
Ladder
Perpetual ascent and descent. Two vertical uprights = duality of the tree of knowledge, two columns of the sephirotic tree.
The letter H.
Eye of the needle. Equivalence: eye in the dome. Solar door.
Crossing the river. One can go upstream to the source, cross, or go down stream. Again, symbolic of the world axis.
Terrestrial four rivers that come from the foot of the Tree of Life. And going downstream to the ocean.
Nirvana – one must not touch the two shores – the worlds of man and gods.
Rainbow
Three primary colors, three secondary, but the seventh ray cannot be represented. The color white represents the seventh colorless ray from which it all unfolds, like the point’s relationship to space.
It also stands for the day of rest which is the rejuvenation in the Hebrew week. 6 days, and the seventh a null.
Hindu: three altar bricks, the three worlds, bricks naturally perforated.
The Celestial waters/earthly waters
The rosary – chain of worlds interconnected by the line (a series of points) between them, their axes. Islam: 99, factor of nine the divine. The divine names, 33 thrice.
Luz: almond, pineal gland. The base of the tree of life.
